ONE OF THE ODDEST THINGS about learning to play a particular piece of music is that a good deal of the learning takes place when you’re not actually practising.
I’ve often found that if there’s an especially tricky bit of fingering in a piano piece I’m learning, I can practise and practise and still not be able to get my fingers to behave. But when I return to the piece a couple of days later, I find I can play it perfectly.
I have no idea why this is the case. But if it works for me, it may well work for you too.
